1)     Using chapter seven in the Spaaij and Burleson text "The Olympic Movement and the Sport of Peacemaking" answer the following:

The author argues that the Olympic Movement is globally politically significant in terms of sovereignty, image and identity. Explain his argument for each. In particular, focus on state participation in the games and the politics of hosting the games. The author also argues that the political dynamics of the Olympic movement really reveal that the philosophical goals of peace and understanding among nations is not really accomplished in reality through the Olympic games. How does he argue this? Cite specific examples. Do you agree or disagree with his arguments?
