As a vice president of the organization, it is mandatory to provide the healthy and safe working environment to the staff. Matrix analysis for the organization can be as following:

It is very interesting to use or learn about Matrix analysis. It definitely calculated my suggestion, which was provided in last week discussion as most accurate top ranked alternative. In my suggestion, for the equality at workplace, all employee must be provided the uniforms by the organization for safety as well as healthy work environment.

 Decisions 

Allow Hindu Women to wear cultural clothing and bangles

Sometimes allow Hindu women to wear cultural clothing and bangles

Do not allow Hindu women to wear bangles or cultural clothing at all

Solution #1

Negotiate with women so that they are only wearing their apparel off the production floor.

Allow women to wear bangles and clothing certain days of the week and only on breaks or times when they are not on the production floor.

Completely ban any long cultural clothing and bangles altogether to completely abide by company safety rules.

Solution #2

Continue to allow women to wear bangles and cultural clothing on the floor with a safety supervisor.

Educate the women of the company on the risks of wearing these bangles and long cultural clothing apparel and allow them to wear the bangles and clothing only when there is a safety instructor around.

Tell the women of the company that they are no longer allowed to wear their bangles and cultural clothing because of the risk to their safety and the longevity of the company. Offer them rewards for practicing good safety and acknowledge their culture by honoring their holidays and culture at the workplace.

Solution #3

Ignore safety rules and regulations and allow women to continue to wear bangles and clothing as they were before.

Only allow women to wear bangles and cultural clothing off the production floor. No exceptions at all when on the production floor.

Ban bangles and cultural clothing and create strict punishments for those that violate these rules such as suspension or termination.

 The decision matrix presented above demonstrates the possible solutions that could be generated during this decision process. The options that are underlined present the most risk to the company, the decisions that are italicized present moderate risk to the company and the options that are bold present the least amount of risk to the company and its employees.

In this particular case, two potential decisions stand out as the best choices when it comes to the safety of the employees at this company. The two extremes in this decision matrix are ignoring safety rules by allowing women to continue to wear their clothing and bangles and completely banning their bangles and cultural clothing with the consequence of suspension or termination. While ignoring safety policy is obviously the worst decision for the company, completely banning their apparel with extreme consequence can also be very risky as well when it comes to maintaining a work base of employees. By only allowing the women to wear their bangles and cultural clothing off the production floor you are still recognizing the importance of your employees' cultural while at the same time following safety guidelines and procedures. The only issue this decision presents is there will be times that an employee may sneak bangles or some article of clothing onto the production floor causing a major safety threat. To prevent this from occurring, the next option highlighted with bold text appears to be the best one. 

The best decision in this scenario appears to be to tell the women of the company that they are no longer allowed to wear their bangles and cultural clothing because of the risk to their safety and the longevity of the company. After explaining this to them put a reward system in place that rewards the employees for practicing acceptable safety regulations. In addition, the company could celebrate their cultural holidays to acknowledge that they recognize their religion, but at the same time are concerned for their health and well-being. This decision recognizes the safety protocols of the company with minimal risk while at the same time respecting the religion of the employees that work for this company.

Decision statement: Should the organization adhere to health and safety standards imposed by the health and safety committee and require the woman in the manufacturing floor to wear proper attire, although this attire may adhere with their religious beliefs.

Objectives:

·         Adhere by health and safety concerns.

·         Expand on or refine certain company policies

·         Maintain our reputation as a diverse organization

·         Provide reasonable accommodations for employees

·         Avoid alienation of employees

·         Acknowledge all health and safety concerns

·         Maintain a strong reputation within the community

·         Make the employees wear proper attire in the factory

    • A safer work environment
      • Satisfies health and safety committee
      • Significantly reduces risk for injuries or accidents
    • May alienate some employees
      • Lose diversity in the factory
      • May have a negative effect on reputation within the community
      • Will need to go through hiring process if employees decide to leave
