1) "Multi-Review:" Choose 2-3 books about a topic or theme of your choice from the course. Summarize and discuss these books in light of the course material. Be sure to make an argument about what these books can help us understand about California history more generally.
2) Primary Sources: Choose a topic or theme of your choice from the course. Select a range of primary sources that help illuminate this topic and craft a historical essay that sheds light on this aspect of California history. The sources, in both type and number, will vary by project. Examples would include: published documents, journals, films, novels, newspapers and periodicals, among others.
