Should key events in the historical development of areas of knowledge always be judged by the standards of their time?

- Brainstorm ideas

In each time there are different standards. This is in every area of knowledge that I can think of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Human Sciences, History, The Arts, Ethics, Religious, Knowledge Systems, Indigenous Knowledge Systems. In each one we can find many experts that their discoveries, advancements and such were not accepted. Einstein, Ramanujan, Basquiat are only some that I can think of from the top of my head, but as I research I will find more examples and analyze them with their respective area of knowledge. I will also talk about things like relativism, standpoint theory and historical revisionism.

- Key definitions

standard

1.

a level of quality or attainment.

"their restaurant offers a high standard of service"

2.

an idea or thing used as a measure, norm, or model in comparative evaluations.

"the wages are low by today's standards"

- Conlusion - You need to provide some idea of where you want your essay to end up (50 words)

The same as my brainstorm. That yes, key events in the historical development of areas of knowledge should always be judged by the standards of their time. Because we have different social norms, cultural perspectives et.

- at least 5 resources (websites/books/videos/lectures/images...) which will help you answer your essay question. These don't necessarily have to be case studies, but can be like to definitions that might be useful, or a philosopher whose ideas you think will be useful.

- for EACH resource you need to provide a 1̶0̶0̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶d̶ 10-20 word rationale for why this is helpful to your question. Make EXPLICIT reference to ideas you have brainstormed and your conclusion. It must be clear you have read and understood the resource.
