Citations (reference notes to your sources) in your research paper must conform to the author-datesystem described in the Chicago Manual of Style. A short guide to using the CMS can be found at Remember, when using this citationsystem you must include a “Reference List” at the end of your paper. This list does not count towardthe paper’s page minimum. Citations are required for the research paper only; you do not have to use citations inthe Source Review or the Research Proposal.

You are required to submit an eight to ten page research paper using the format and citation system described above. The topic of this paper must examine a current example of one of the three “dynamics” we are studying in this course (Movement; Energy; Order) as it is having an effect in the world you live in today. You may examine this dynamic (you may choose any one of the three) at work in one of the following global regions (you may choose any one of the eight): North America, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Asia, or the Pacific. Of course, in many cases you will find these dynamics at work across national borders, so an appropriate focus for your paper would be on a specific region, rather than the continents as a whole.
