In this lab, you will gather data about CO2 emissions using the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Web site (Earth System Research Laboratory, n.d.) to help you write up a scientific report centered around known phenomena of CO2 emissions, related to the following question:

  • Would you expect to see an increase or decrease in CO2 emissions in the data over the past 40 years? Why?

Using the M.U.S.E. link, review the background information, and access the Web site to gather your data.

Use the Lab 3 worksheet for assignment instructions and data collection.

This assignment will also be assessed using additional criteria provided here.

30% (60 of 200 points)

Critical Thinking Demonstrates ability to analyze assumptions, evaluate evidence, complexities of issues, and alternatives.

20% (40 of 200 points)

Information Literacy and Research Demonstrates good selection and use of high quality, credible, and relevant sources to develop ideas that are appropriate to the assignment.  Includes correct in-text citations.

5%  (10 of 200 points)
