Samsung is a South Korean multinational company headquartered in Seoul. Samsung was founded in 1938 as a trading company, and was around 1960’s that Samsung entered the electronics industry. Samsung’s most important sources of revenue are mobile phones and semiconductors. And the company has a powerful influence on South Korea’s economic development, politics, media, and culture. Samsung's revenue was equal to 17% of South Korea's $1,082 billion GDP.
The main problem Samsung faced in 2016 was with the mobile phone Galaxy Note 7, Samsung, has sold tens of millions of the Galaxy S7 and the company had to stop the sales and production after a global recall failed to stem reports of batteries that overheated or caught fire. One example is from the costumer Daniel Ramirez; he had said a Galaxy S7 Edge severely burned his right leg when it burst into flames. In addition to that he suffered second- and third-degree burns to his right upper leg and index finger when the handset ignited his pants and melted them to his leg. Furthermore, Ramirez and others discontented costumers are seeking for compensatory and punitive damages. The company has said that, though Samsung recognized "extremely rare cases" of overheating in other devices, they were caused by "external circumstances" and not related to product quality. Also, the South Korean electronics giant is involved in a major recall of the Note 7, a critical and commercial success that has been dogged by a combustible battery when charged. The mobile phone, was released in August, and quickly sold more than 2.5 million units. According to news another problem Samsung is having with the costumers is that they tried to make the problem less important than it is, and that made the consumer a lot worse.
To make Samsung regain credibility I would work with organizational power to implement the law and ethics in the business environment and with creativity and innovation. To make consumers les angry as a manager I would compensate the consumers in order to maintain Samsung’s loyalty and trust, and I would also ensure that our company will not make this mistake again. A second approach I would implement is to use creativity and innovation. Creativity in OB defined as the process of producing “new and useful ideas concerning products, services, processes, and procedures. It can be as simple as locating a new place to hang your car keys or as complex as developing a pocketsize microcomputer. One can create something new (creation), one can combine or Synthesize things (synthesis), or one can improve or change things (modification).
I would choose creativity since creativity expands the options available to
the decision maker. Therefore my action would be to launch new products and adapting its marketing plan and media plan, in order to make Samsung can regain trust.
There are four creative performance behaviors you can use to increase your creativity: problem formulation/definition, preparation/information gathering, idea generation, and idea evaluation/validation. To conclude by creating new products, the consumer would end it up forgetting about the Galaxy Note 7 if new product was launched.
