Research Scenario

## Measures of height from the general population of adult females in Peru form a normal distribution with a m = 151 and s = 5 (cm).  Epidemiological studies have shown that malnutrition in childhood has an impact on adult height.  Using data from a cohort study, a researcher obtained a sample of n = 100 women who experienced malnutrition in childhood.  The average height for this sample was xÌ…= 148 cm.  Do these data indicate that malnutrition in childhood has a significant effect on adult height?  Test with alpha=.05.
