2 short questions to answer, no need to cite your work or format....at 150 words for each
Respond to at least two of your peers by providing feedback on how their three key skills will help them to achieve their career goals. In addition, provide at least one suggestion for how they might emphasize their relevant skills.
The three skills that I chose were; Research and identify best buy vendors, Prepare and submit Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s), Procure all items for resale.
I have performed purchasing agent duties for the last 9 years in the United States Air Force. As a Contracting professional I was required to regularly perform market research to identify the most qualified and capable vendors. Additionally, as a warranted contracting officer I was required to prepare requests for quotes, solicit, award/procure, and administer contracts by assuring compliance with the terms and conditions of the contracts.
The job that I looked for on indeed.com was a Geospatial Analyst. A couple of searches came back and the one I selected was for a company called CleverSource in McLean, VA as a Geospatial Analyst. Below are some of the job requirements that I saw that I would be able to meet.
- Gather requirements, determine scope, and estimate hours needed to develop and deliver custom geospatial analytic solutions to our government customer.
- Identify and implement improvements to system designs and processing methodologies to improve efficiency, scale, reliability, and mitigate operational risk
- Advise, train, mentor, and learn from other team members on technical topics
There are many skills that I would like to add to my resume for this job but in order to help fill the wickets as far as the job requirements go I would put down the following.
- I have been a Geospatial Analyst for three years and have been working in the military using programs such as ArchGIS, ENVI, and Imagine. These tools allow for better management and scope of products and allow for easy tracking and estimates of time required to finish a project. These tools also allow the user to get a better understand the job and provides the tools required to make the job easier for the user. Finally, through my time in the military I have had to lead many people and have been given leadership at almost every rank that I have held, which will has helped give me the tools to advise, train and mentor others.
